Why Gold Over Blue?

Gold Over Blue, in Portuguese - Ouro Sobre Azul - is an expression used to describe something that is very rare, precious, or beautiful, often referring to a situation or object that is perfect. 

“Ouro Sobre Azul” is the effortless harmony of elements meant to be together - like sunlight over the sea, beauty in its perfect place.

Originally, this expression came from the famous Portuguese blue tiles that were placed in churches besides the gold pieces, playing with the idea that gold stands out against a blue background, suggesting something that is both special and striking. 


Our Story

Fabíola Castela, Gold Over Blue founder, had a dream of coming to Australia since she was 20 years old. She studied Sociology in Coimbra, Portugal and fell in love with the Australian society, culture and way of life. Finally, at 53 years old, her dream came true. All the family came to live in Melbourne, Australia and started this business with the goal of creating something unique. She wants to give you the same feeling she got when she learned about Australia - something unforgettable, a perfect moment, a blend of the best of Portugal and the best of Australia.
